13  But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.14  Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light. 15  Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),16  Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

V13 When anything is brought into the light, it is made visible and clear. Sin brought into the light causes it to stop its strength and grip on your life. Sin hidden in darkness grows and is out of control. How do you bring it into the light? You do it by confession. Confession causes the sin to stop growing and gives you strength through Christ to battle the sin.

V14 Christ will shine upon you and give you light. The light comes from Christ. Christ sheds light on the sin in your life and gives light to your path. He is the light of the world. His light is needed in our lives to shine on our path. When we have Christ in our life, our ways are clear. Our paths in this life are transparent because we do not have sin hidden in our hearts.

V15 Look carefully how you walk. Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise, but as sensible and intelligent people. If we just go through this life, doing what we want to do, then we are living unwisely. It takes purpose and determination to live for Christ. It does not come easily, but when we do follow Christ, our lives have purpose.

V16 When we live for Christ, we are making the most of our time on this earth. We are not wasting our life, living selfishly, but are living with a purpose.
