My wife is going into surgery today. Back surgery. They are fusing three vertebrae in her lower back. It is going to be a big one.
She is somewhat anxious about the surgery, but it is amazing what hope will do to a person. The pain she has been living with has caused her difficulty in doing the things I take for granted .. getting out of a car, standing for long periods of time, walking up/down steps. She has hope that things will return back to normal after the surgery. I have not seen her this hopeful in quite sometime.
One has to wonder why is she going through this. Mid-forties and a degenerated back. I’m not sure of the why, but I know that no matter what you are going through God will not give you more than you can handle (1 Cor 10:13). Talking with her, she wonders at times, when the pain has been so bad for so long. Overall, she accepts what has been dealt to her. I believe that in the bigger picture, she will be able to help many others with what she has gone through.
She is a wonderful woman. After 23 years of marriage, I still cannot believe how in love I am with her. I definitely got the better end of the deal. Hoping that this surgery allows her to function more normally.

Hope your wife’s recovery is going okay today and that you will both experience more of God’s healing mercies and faithfulness through this time.

Thanks, Janet.
This is going to be a rough one! She is still trying to manage the pain, the the doctors say this is normal for a triple fusion in her lower back. There is a lot of dust in the air, but I know that better times for her are coming. Thanks for the prayers!

I was diagnosed with severe disc problems in my late 20s (unheard of!) and they said I needed a fusion, too. I know it’s a tricky surgery and I was afraid I would be too hard-headed to follow the rules. How is she doing now?

This is her second fusion, and she’ll need one more (hopefully only one). Her back has major degeneration. She is doing as expected 1 day after surgery. She got up and walked/sat down today. Not easy but they get her moving the day after. She is in pain (expected), but is textbook according to the nurses and doctors. She is a strong woman, and has a strong faith in God. That with her newfound hope is encouraging.

Good luck to Mrs. Ledet! Praying for her to feel great after the healing. She deserves it after waiting all this time!

I am praying for a speedy recovery. I feel what your wife is going through, but she is in great hands, a loving hubby, and a loving Lord! I will share this with you, i am a disabled vet, i have back injuries, neck injuries, hand and feet, breathing disorders, costochondritis, and most recently in December 2011, MS! Now they said i torn both of my miniscus’s in my right leg! I still smile, and just like your words ,I do not believe that He gives us more than what we can handle…proof to me, i always see someone in worse shape than me everytime I visit the VA hospital! Sometimes its hard for people to feel sympathy when outward you might not seem that bad, but like your wife from head to toe inside every day is a challenge! Tell her God will always be there, and right on time! And you be the rock you have always been. Thanks for visiting my site today. I also will check back on yours to see how your wife is doing. I have been married to mine for 35 years and she is a disaabled vet also! We are praying for her! Take care my brother!
