Love Verses Intimacy

There are many avenues in our relationship with God, but two that I want to focus on today are:

  1. His love
  2. Intimacy or Connection with Him

His love – God loves us, we probably all know that. What is the more difficult thing to understand is that He loves us regardless of what we do or don’t do. Just as I love each of my kids regardless of what they do or don’t do. Nothing we do or don’t do can cause Him to love us anymore. Likewise, nothing we do or don’t do can cause Him to love us any less.

Intimacy or Connection with Him – This is much different than His love. It may sound the same at first, but the two are worlds apart. This is what followers of God Continue reading

Are We Good Friends?

Good friends .. friends that stick by you in the good and tough times. Hopefully we all have them. They are the ones that you can call anytime and know without a doubt that they have your back. If you don’t see them for a year, when you finally get together with them, you pick right up where you left off.

Today, after listening to our senior pastor teach, I thought about his message. The guy he talked about had REALLY good friends. Friends that would do (and did do) anything that was necessary to get the job done.

Mark in his gospel tells the story many of us have heard since we were young. The story Continue reading

Perfect Peace

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 25:3

When we trust in God and fix our thoughts on God something happens. Something wonderful happens that bubbles up from deep inside of us. It is something that we find difficult to describe to others on the outside but it means so much to us that we try to find words to describe it. We always fall short though because it is so very hard to put it into mere words.

Not only do we find peace, but the peace is perfect. And not only do we find perfect peace, but the perfect peace remains with us.

Morning time

I’ve been thinking about my last post and have done a bit of research. I know that I connect with God in the morning and was wondering about pushing this to others. I found a scripture regarding this, but found another scripture that reflects the priority of seeking God:

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.Psalm 5:3

Here we see David specifically mentioning that he sought God in the morning. David had a heart after God’s own heart and he prioritized things so that he gave time in the morning. Continue reading

Question – How Do You Connect?

Tags

In talking with a guy this morning, I was struck with an understanding of the need to get intimate in our relationship with Christ. How this plays out is something that is different for everyone. I think about spending time with God when I awake in the morning. Used to not be that way though.

Question: How important is it in your opinion to think about spending time with God when you wake, and how do you connect?

I would love to get responses from the blogging community, and hopefully some comments. Feel free to comment below. Those of us who follow Christ have ways that they connect with God. I understand how that plays out in my own life, but that is my opinion. I would like to have feedback from others to round out my understanding of obtaining and maintaining a close walk with Christ.

My opinion is simply that .. only my opinion. As I encourage others in their walk with God, I desire to have a rounded opinion to hopefully hit them where they are, and give them something that they can connect with.

Thanks!
Dave
